Welcome to the SVSU Faculty Association
It has been a busy summer with many changes occurring across the campus and throughout the state. Of immediate interest to our members is the health care discussion planned for September 4th, 2014, in Wickes Hall, 4-5:30 pm.
Over the course of the summer your executive board and a subcommittee comprised of David Schneider (Lead contract negotiator), Elson Boles (MAHE Delegate), Diana Trebing (3 yr At Large), Tony Crachiola (3 yr. At Large), and Shaun Bangert (FA President), looked at the merits of moving to a new prescription plan option for faculty on the MESSA Choices II PPO (there will be no changes to MESSA SuperCare). After much consideration it was determined the majority of our members would realize significant savings if we moved to an RxSaver prescription plan. No other changes to Choices II would be involved.
The September 4th forum is to introduce the plan and respond to any questions you might have. You are also invited to attend one of three sessions where you may meet with MESSA representatives to find out how the possible new plan would affect your personal prescription needs. Please be advised that these sessions will be on a first come, first serve basis. The dates, times and locations for these are Tuesday, September 9, 10-11:30 am, in ES221; Wednesday, September 10, from 1-2:30 pm, in B127; Thursday, September 11th from 4-5:30 pm, in C127.
A paper ballot vote will be held September 15 - 19 to decide whether we will move to the new plan. All ballots must be returned to Donna Helmreich-Lopez, C300, no later than noon on September 19th. We look forward to your involvement in this matter.
Please note that the September 4th meeting and voting privileges are reserved for SVSUFA members only.
